Lag B'Omer 2

Of course, another part of the Lag B'Omer Festival is the bonfires. These aren't just campfires, mind you, but huge conflagrations. Israel takes Lag B'Omer seriously.

Modi'in, before the fires.

The fires begin. Burn, Baby burn!

A closer-up shot of the fires.

After a brief evening stroll in Modi'in, I caught the express bus back to Jerusalem. Fires, fires everywhere.

A bonfire is ready to go in Givat Ze'ev (northwest of Jerusalem.)

In Geulah, the Hareidi (ultra-orthodox) district, things are taken to an extreme.

A five-story flame in Geulah.

Meanwhile back in Pisgat Ze'ev...
A shot of my own street, with bonfires on the grass.

Those shipping crates really go up fast!
